With missing teeth, there’s a few options. You know, the conventional way that we’ve dealt with missing teeth is a bridge, is a conventional bridge where we anchor the teeth on either side of the space, and then we put the new tooth in the middle. One of the downsides to doing that is, particularly if they were virgin teeth on either side of that space, is we have to cut into that tooth structure. We want to be conservative with your natural teeth, right? Implant, that’s kind of our first choice in a lot of circumstances. It’s dependent on some things. Is there enough bone to have a really solid implant? Is there space between that and the upper teeth? So there’s several things to look at.
So the third option would be something removable, right? There’s some difficulties with it, but people have done well with them for years. But you have to take it out, clean it when you’re eating, and food and so forth can get caught around them. So you have to be really diligent in taking care of them. But they are a reasonable solution for some people. As an individual, let’s see where you’re at. We can consider the health of the mouth in general. Let’s also consider financial aspects. So before we make a decision, let’s look at all four of those options, and let’s look at it from a lot of different angles, and we’ll make the right decision.
Benefit From a Healthy Smile With Our Restorative Dentistry Treatments
Restorative dental services play a key role in the work we do here at Park Place Dental. Our patients rely on our restorative skills to get their smiles back in shape so they can live without the daily hassles of failing and missing teeth. No matter what your smile needs, you’re always welcome to take advantage of sedation to ensure relaxing care. We also keep you comfortable with technology such as iTero digital impressions.
We offer several types of restorative dentistry here:
- Tooth-Colored Fillings – Our natural-looking fillings don’t contain any metal and don’t stand out like old-fashioned silver fillings. They repair dental damage from cavities while blending in with the rest of your smile.
- Dental Crowns – A crown will repair a damaged tooth or, with an implant, replace a missing tooth. It’s our most versatile dental restoration!
- Dental Bridges – Bridges literally fill in the gap created by a missing tooth or teeth, just like a bridge on a highway does. You can get a traditional bridge that anchors to your teeth or an implant-supported bridge that is secured with two or more dental implants.
- Dentures – Take your choice of full dentures that replace a complete arch of teeth or partial dentures if you still have some healthy teeth.
- Dental Implants – These artificial tooth roots are the preferred method for replacing missing teeth. Dr. Jones can insert them into your jaw where they will serve as a stable base for new teeth. Crowns, bridges, and full arches of fixed teeth can be attached to implants.
- Inlays and Onlays – Our team can use these restorations when your tooth repair needs more than a standard filling but less than an entire crown. They will cover the top of the tooth (inlay) or the top as well as the sides (onlay).
- Root Canal Therapy – Dr. Jones can clean out and seal the diseased inner portion of your infected tooth, relieving your pain and saving the tooth from extraction. Contrary to what many people believe, a root canal here is no more painful than getting a tooth filled.
