So a couple things, I think it can be an environment that’s stressful for people when they come in. So I do take a lot of pride in taking those patients that need a little extra TLC and kind of guiding them through the process. And I try to get to know the patients and their families. I want them to feel comfortable. So the whole vibe is sort of designed with the intention of making everybody feel comfortable, you know, whether it’s anxiety, whether it’s whatever somebody comes into us for. And we always say that one of the greatest compliments we have is when they refer us to a friend or a loved one. From the very beginning, I’ve always decided to treat people as I would treat my family. I want them to trust exactly what I tell them. I always put their best interests first. And again, I know that sounds kind of simple, but to me, it’s a thing. And I hope that people kind of feel that.
The first thing I always have with patients is conversation, right? I want to know where they’re coming from, what some of their concerns are, even if they come in with a lot of anxiety. And a lot of times it’s from a bad experience, either as a kid. I try to at least have a conversation. If nothing else, they know that I’m listening and concerned and care about where we’re meeting. And then, from there, we’ll talk about different ways we can alleviate that. Maybe we’ll start on something that’s really small to get them sort of back in the fold. Having the compassion to say that, you know, we’re actually listening. We’re actually going to kind of walk them through this process and do whatever level of hand-holding we need to do.
Dr. Jones Will Talk You Through Your Dental Fears
Dr. Michael Jones has been practicing dentistry since 1987 and here in Petaluma since 2006. He loves the relationships with his patients that develop as they work together on improving their oral health and smiles. He has a lot of respect for his patients and treats them accordingly.
Dr. Jones believes it’s essential to establish open and honest communication, starting at your initial visit. He is there to help and support you and will actively listen to what you say. Your clinical concerns, fears, and goals are all important to him. If he understands all of those, he can develop a treatment approach that’s right for you. This ensures the best treatment experience possible for each person.
Along with our staff, Dr. Jones understands that some people have dental anxiety. He is not here to judge. Instead, he will focus on your specific fears and talk through whatever you are worried about. Often, acknowledging what you have experienced is enough to help you work through the anxiety. If not, though, conscious sedation care and other anxiety-control assistance can reassure you. Dr. Jones and his team are pleased that they can help in this way.
He earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery at Loma Linda University. Since graduation, he has pursued many continuing education courses, especially in implant dentistry. His memberships in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and the Academy of Osseointegration have provided opportunities for him to study under the leaders in this field. By constantly learning, expanding, and honing his skills, Dr. Jones is able to provide his patients with the best care possible. The fact that they can receive their dental implants in our office, without the hassle of being referred to an outside specialist, relieves them of a lot of stress.
Dr. Jones lives in Novato with his wife, Joanna, who is an amazing cook and mother. They have three beautiful children, Ellie, Griffin, and Vivienne. When he’s not at the office, you’ll most often find him spending quality time with his family and friends or on the tennis court.
